The 5.0 in my '88 F150 is getting tired. I would like to pick up a replacement and rebuild it and then swap it out so I will have the least downtime.
What 5.0 from what vehicle will work best to fit all of the F150 specific parts and be the same as the original engine?
I would prefer to stay away from roller rockers and anything that would cause problems with the California smog *****.
Thanks, Greg
well since you are wanting to get this done asap, any f150/bronco 302 would work. if you are out looken though and come across a 5.8 efi complete you really should upgrade to that. it will bolt right in , just reuse your 5.0 harness , motor mounts and accessory brackets. and depending on what tranny you have a different flexplate/flywheel and your done. i did this swap in a weekend about 2yrs ago in my driveway. pics in superford page
