WELL THERE NOT ROUND! AND ROUND IS COOL. THE SQUARE ONES REMIND ME TO MUCH OF THE 80'S LOOK. AND I HATE THE 80'S FORD TRUCKS. HAD THREE OF THEM 81,84,85 ALL ENDED UP BEING NOTHING BUT RUST COLLECTORS. HELL MY 85 RUSTED AWAY SO MUCH I PARKED IT NEXT TO THE BARN AND YEAR LATE IT WAS GONE ( EARTH RECLAIMED IT.) HAAAAA!
I like the 76 myself. Also, i didnt see it mentioned, but I believe that you have to switch radiator supports to switch grilles. Notice the headlights sit lower on the 76 than the 78-79. It's all preference though.
You dont have to swap radiator supports, just drill a couple new holes on each side. I pesonally like the 79 grill better, and i happen to have both. Just an matter of opinion though
I like the 78-79 'square-ish' style, but I must say for the round lights on the bottom I like the 73-75 way better than the 76-77. If your going for the classic look its gotta be a nice one piece smooth grille (half), just dont like the choped up and boxed 76-77. Plus you can get clear signal lenses for the 73-75, not sure bout the 76-77. I am working on a project converting my bronco to the 73-75 style. Got all the grill pieces for 73-75, and I got round buckets from a round lighted 78, trying to figure out if they will work or if I need round 73-77 buckets? Also not sure if I have to drill holes in the radiator support or if they are there already.
When I get to my 78 f250 I am gonna use my bronco grill with the suqare lights because I think thats got the 'toughest' look to it.
I also highly recomend the sealed beam headlight conversion kits. I got the rectangualr ones in my bronc now and they have a way improved beam pattern and use replacable h4 bulbs wich you can get in all colors and brightnesses. I got the zenon arctic purple lights that are very bright but the standard brightness ultra-white lights are even brighter. Makes a crazy amount of difference compared to the dull stock lights. When I first installed them I put just one on to compare. When I turned the lights on I seriously started to laugh.
I have not used the round sealed beam conversions but I am hopeful they help the beam pattern like my rect ones do. They are all over ebay. Just do a search for 78 or 79 bronco and a quarter of all the auctions will probably be for these headlights.
