tired old 6 banger
Hey everybody, I usually hang around the old truck message board but am seeking advice on a newer model today. 1987 F150, 300 I6, c6. The problem starts here: blowing water out the exaust. I know that the head needs to come off, probably need to rebuild the whole thing but I would appreciate the benifit of your experiences (tips or tricks) before diving into this one as I don't want to do any more or less than is neccessary. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave

You might just have a blown headgasket, only takes ~1½ hours to do yourself, and a gasket is ~$30, and is really worth a try. But,if you don't have white foamy oil, or oil in your antifreeze, it might be the water drain in your muffler plugged up. The only reason you should need to re-build would be if the truck has high miles or if it was beat to death, has very poor oil pressure(none), or knocks.
