Won't go into park
Tried this on Trans forum w/o results. 1988 ranger, 2.9, auto. Floor shifter won't go into Park or D1. Tried adjusting shift lever trunnion but no change. Shift lever handle appears to be in correct position as no indexing mark shows on shift lever and thumb button is operable. Has anyone had this problem and fix, or any suggestions welcome.

have you layed under the vehcile and loosened the (think it's a 13mm or 15mm) nut on the shifter rod linkage and slid the rod and tried adjusting that way? You'll need someone in the vehicle to move the shifter while u are under the truck so you'll know which directions things move..then you can make your adjustemnts.
Mine wont stay in 1..probably cuz of the body lift ..so what i did is cut the plastic so the handle moves further down..works good now.
