speedo tooth count?
what gear count do i need for my speedo ring? i have a 78' ford with a c6/203 3.90 gears and 35inch tires, the tranny shop told me i needed a teeth count so i could order a new one, i am guessing my ring is broken or stripped, i can undo the speedo cable and run it with a drill just fine, i really dont want to have it down for a couple days nor do i want to tear into it twice.....please help!

The drive gear is cut into the ouput shaft and is not replaceable.
It could be 6-7-8 or 9 tooth.
The teeth on the driven gear can be counted easily. Just remove the cable.
You can look inside the speedo hole and count the teeth as you turn the output shaft.
