Got a few bugs
My dad and I just got my '91 F-250 running, but it seems to have a few bugs that need worked out of it. Mainly I am wondering about the "check engine" light. The light does not come on until the truck has been running awhile and has gotten warmed up. Just wondering if anyone has any experience or insight on this problem. Thanks
The Check Engine Light indicates a sensor is out of its operating range or has failed . The easiest way to retrieve the codes is to connect a jumper wire at the EEC IV Connector , Jumper the Self Test Input and Signal Return pins , Turn the key to the on position ( Clutch in for manual trans )count and record the flashes of the Check Engine Light . First you should get Code 11 ...Flash pause flash , then you will get any hard fault stored codes , same procedure counting the flashes , next will be the seperator code ( single flash ) then the continuous memory codes ( If any ) will be displayed . Ill post a link here that shows how to connect the jumper wire , Ignore using the DVOM unless thats how you want to do it , just connect the jumper wire and use the check engine light . http://members.onecenter.com/autoworld/truckmech/fordinfo.html
