Where in the world is the engine hood insulation on My 04 F-250? I would like to buy one, no i want ford to install one on my 50$ truck. Does FMC have a part # for this?
Ford pulled the hood insulation on the '04 models in January of '04 along with the rear wheel liners, glove box light, and...something else, I think. Can't remember what else as gray matter is deteriorating rapidly these days.
I believe the hood insulation can be ordered thru Ford for around $ 85.00 or so...easy install from what I have heard.
I don't understand the need for the hoodliner. None of the trucks I have owned has ever had one:
1967 F250 Gas
1973 F100 Gas
1975 F250 Gas
1977 F150 Gas
1983 F250 Diesel
1984 F350 Gas
2005 F250 Diesel
It seems to me that a hood liner will just provide a place for rainwater to collect and it makes great material for mice nests. I guess you could argue that it keeps engine heat away from the hood but the North Carolina sun in August has got to make the hood hotter than that coming off of the engine.
It will make it a bit quieter...my reason was heat on the hood, took five minutes to install.
I did not use all the different strips, blanket only and push pins.
I ordered mine about a month after my truck came in. I think it took 9 clips, but you have to order 12 because they come in bags of 4. It is a breeze to install, like Tim said, took maybe 5 minutes. I did not notice my truck being less noisy, but like my idol Tim, I wanted the peace of mind the heat would not be on my hood damaging the paint.
My Jan 04 did not have the pad. I bought it for the prices show above and installed like the others in minutes. ]
My rear tires had protectors for the front and rear of the tire but nothing from the bed to the spring. I bought some "protectors" from JCW which were perfect and from the side I no longer see any under carriage stuff. I put these on because I use my truck on the Bonneville salt flats (there's no better push off truck than a 6.0 Ford). The front wheel well parts from the kit did not fit exactly on a 2WD but with a little cutting worked fine.
I bought extra plastic push in connectors from Tres Amigos dela Pep and fiinshed the job easily. Good Luck

Tim, just curious, why do you list the cost price that the dealer pays when most of us can't buy it for that? It doesn't enrage me what they're making or make me sad, but I would love to buy at cost. If you know where I can, pass on the info
