i have a '92 f-150 super cab and i am currently having 2 minor problems.
1) i have abs brakes, but when it rains, my brakes always lock up for the first few stops. after i get going they seem to be fine, and i have no trouble in dry conditions. only if my car is sitting, gets wet, and then i drive it. they are very quick to lock up.
2) when i am cruising at low speeds, around 30 or so, my trans is rough. if i coast for a while and then hit the gas, the shift is very rough...jerks the car a little, makes a loud thud. seems to run fine at higher speeds.
As for the rear brake shoes locking up when wet ...welcome to the club . I think Ford came out with a tapered shoe that eliminates this . Seems to me my dad had the shoes on his truck changed to the tapered design and I believe he hasnt had a problem with it since . The clunk and the noise you are hearing / feeling may not be in the trans but possibly the U joint(s) on the driveshaft . The rear diff has a fair amount of play in it and that coupled with worn ujoints may be what you are experiencing .
