I had the same problem with my 81 f150. It is caused by condensation in the crankcase, probably caused by blow by.
I solved the problem by going to the junk yard and getting a van dipstick and cutting it to the right length. this gets rid of the rust prone top section of the stock dipstick. Just mark the right levels with a file, the next time you change oil.
Short trip driving that does not heat up the engine and an inoperative PCV system can cause heavy moisture accumulation in the crankcase. Just because the PCV valve rattles does not mean it is good. Replace it annually or every 12,000 miles.
i think it already did i was coming home from the city and could hear a tick like the hedders where leaking but about 10 miles down the road it started to nock it sounded like a jakhammer after about 20 miles of that it stoped making that noise now theres just a little tick and i have no power at all it starts good has oil presser i dont know what to do i want to get some info before i take the motor out
