I remember reading a lot of uncertain threads on seat swaps, and after doing on emyself I would like to set a couple facts straight.
1. Ford did something I had suspected but didnt know and that was stamping the frame for all styles. when I pulled the carpet it had the holes for all the seat combos. I put in a bench from a 86 F150 into my 93 eddie bauer bronco.
2. the seats fit from I believe 86 all the way to 96 but I am not sure of the 94 -96
3. the bench is amaizing and it allows a little more room to get into the back, who would have thought.
4. I have the tan seats and center consol if someone wants them, PM me
My 87 came with the "split back bench" seat, the same as found in king cab pickups. I have since swapped it out for Explorer buckets. I noted when I did so that the holes for Bronco buckets were also in the floor, too bad they didn't match the Explorer seats. Entry into the back is a heck of a lot easier now. The split back seat thing seems rather ill-conceived to me, I don't doubt a regular pickup seat would work better and wonder why they just didn't put those in Broncos to start with.
Umm, yeah. That would mean I'd have to clean the Bronco up some. It's my work truck and gets rough. Oh well, needs cleaning anyway. I'll put some pics up in a couple of days. Son in law's truck stays nasty but I'll snap some pics of those seats too.
Kemi, you can just look at any 80-96 F-series pickup with a bench seat. The seat will look EXACTLY the same way installed in a Bronco. However Broncos equipped with Explorer seats are not to be found on every corner.
well he said that the bench seat now folds up better to access the back seat. that is what i am wanting to see. because i just cant picture that. putting explorer seats in the bronco isnt a new thing , mustang gt seats from 94-95 are also a popular upgraded seat.
Azjan, if there are, I've never seen any. A shame, I like armrests too.
Kemi, if it helps, every Ford truck I ever owned with a regular bench seat back to a 1968 model had a seat back that flipped forward until it was resting on the steering wheel.
i know gypsyR, but i still dont see how that would give more access to the rear seat then the front bucket can on its own bracket that practicly folds up. he was saying that with the bench access improved. just wanted pics of that
well I havent been on this thread in a while and I didnt realize you all wanted some pics that bad. I will have them up for you in a day or two I have to take a few more because the woman deleted all the one I took form the installation process. I couldnt believe the bolt pattern was under the carpet though. it was great. you are gonna laugh when you see the color though it is a red bench in an eddiebauer tan interior I love it though.
