92 F-150 302 auto
I would like to get some oppinions on what I should do. I just found that one of my piston has a huge chunk in it and now I either need to have it rebuilt or replaced. My friend is doing it and he builds his fords from bottom to top often he really enjoys it. So he doesn't care which way I go. I just want a great running and reliable engine at the best price possible. Got any ideas?
Thanks,
Kallie
If you have somebody that can competently rebuild your motor, then I say rebuild. That's assuming there is no damage to the block. Maybe your friend will let you help him - great way to learn.
rebuild. a few years ago in car craft??? Joe sherman built a 302 that ran 402 hp!! very simple and cheap, if you want the details pm me and i'll dig them up. BTW that was with a 289 crank, and some serious crank grinding, flipping the pistons and a huge carb. with a edlebrock intake. runs naturaly aspirated on 91 octane!
