probably not... I got passed on a bad tie rod end because I promised to replace it, and the shop was laxed. It depends too, where you go, because I know a shop around here that lets a lot of things slide, but it depends who you are, because they won't do it for just everyone, because if they did, eventually someone would squeal and they would lose the inspection certification...

AS stated before it all depends on wher you go. As a state inspector I can tell you that it should not pass but that is one of the items that get over looked a lot,if you know the shop then it might pass but it might not either. the fines have gotten real stiff if you get caught not doing a complete inspection you get a ticket and have to appear in court,loose your license for a year then have to retest.

Everyone is right it's all about where you go. I had a guy inspect one of my trucks while he was on the phone in about ten minutes and have had one place just trying to find something wrong so I would pay them to fix it.

one place my wife went to wouldn't pass it because of a vertical crack in the outside rear view mirror, that was all they could find. so she went to the other shop that knows her real well and they passed it for her. It was still that way until she wrecked it here last fall, then it lost another chip...
