Cfm?
i currently have a motorcraft 2100-D on my 390 w/C-6. i have sitting in my garage a stock dual-plain intake manny for a 4bbl.
my questions are:
what is the cfm for the 2100-D? i purchased it from the local parts store, it was a rebuild (poorly) from holley.
i'm looking 2 run around 3500 for my rpm's. not looking 4 a wheelie machine, but a nice daily driver/cruising truck w/off-the-line power. would i be better off going w/the 4bbl or sticking w/my 2bbl?
i've found on these 2 different forums that people are pulling around 14mpg w/4bbl's. is that possible, and how? can i come anywhere close to those mpg's w/a 2bbl?
p.s.
i have many more questions on this subject!
Gas mileage: it's all in the tune up, rear gears and driving techniques.
My stock 352(headers only & 140K miles) has a 750 Holley on the 2bbl manifold and it still gets 10 mpg. Just the same as when it had 2bbl on it, only it runs better, starts easier, idles better, etc! I'm assuming the carb still has the 72 jets in it from the factory(never tore into it). I bet I could jet it down a couple and see if mileage increases. Now everyone thinks that a 750 is too big for a stock 352?? Well, running on the 2bbl for the most part is right at 375 CFM(right?), so it's actually not anywhere out of line for it.
I think 12-14 is possible with all the right parts and driving it sanely.
according 2 my VIN i have 3.50 ratio for gears w/p 235/75 R 15's for tires.
as for my driving habits... my baby has taught me to drive slow. because like a real chik, she hits my wallet hard. especially if i drive around like a maniac on a mission..lol
do you think it would be wise to go ahead and slap on the 4bbl manifold? if so what would my best option be for a carb? on my first post i talked about a rebuilt carb i bought. my beef w/holley is the acc.pump screw-holes were stripped out and they slapped a couple of helicoils in there and I'm the "lucky" person that got it. i ended up taking the crb to a radiator shop and had them weld up the holes so i can re-tap them.
i'm sure you know why the radiator shop welded my carb, but 4 any newbies reading this, it was the cheapest place to have aluminum welded. on that note i don't really care for holley, just makes me wonder how much care they have or put into there products. but if i'm going to get better performance out of a holley then any other of my options then i'll just suck it up and get over it.
