Thanks for all the replies I received about my towing and trans questions. Now I would like to know about the engine itself. Mileage is not too bad,21 mpg, but I believe in Oil Additives like Molyslip E and it doesn't increase my mileage. Also the AMS oil air filter I put in my 5.0 Capri added mpg, will it work with this engine? I have heard that this engine is hard on plug wires, any particular type or brand I should look for? I put platinum plugs in it but I sure hear a lot of static in my radio when I am cruising. Also heard that this engine is indestructible from the dealer's mechanic and in one of my replies. Any other advice you have would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

What yr is your 4.9L ? My personal opinion on oil additives ...Junk , Modern Day Snake Oil , Waste Of Money . Change the oil and filter on a regular basis with a quality oil and filter . Ive had the same plug wires on my 4.9L for 6 yrs ... No problems , same mileage , theyre fine . When and if they give problems , repalce them . The 4.9L is a tough engine but it still requires maintenance . Abuse and neglect will kill any engine .

The only oil additive that seems worthwhile is Rislone. I have used it on all three of my 300 I6 engines ('77 115,000 miles and running strong when sold, '84 176,000 miles and running strong when sold, and now my '95). Does Rislone really help? I don't know of any comprehensive study done on it, but it apparently hasn't hurt in my case. It is supposed to help keep deposits from forming on your engine internals and also is a penetrating oil to ensure lubrication in all the tightest places, and it is supposed to stay on the parts over prolonged periods of non-use.
