Back fires...

My father and I finally got the darn thing to run good, for about 5 minutes. :-) We rebuilt my carberateur, and in doing so found that a rod inside was going up when giving it gas, but when we let off the gas, it would go back down, but not all the way. After fixing the rod, we started it. We had it idling for approx. 5 minutes, then when we got it off the auto choke, it instantly started to back fire really nasty, and just started to run badly. It barely idles, but doesn't smoke in the LEAST bit, even when revved. The back firing gets really nasty as you get it higher in the revs.

Any ideas?

I think we kinda, ALMOST got there but not quite. Atleast it idles good when it's got that auto choke on.

Getting closer...

Back fires...

Sounds like your almost there Chris but now all you need to do is adjust the fuel goin to the carb 3 turns out each screw ( fuel and air) should be a good base point and adjust as needed from there sounds like it might be runnin a little lean causing the backfire.....goodluck
