Reverse Vehicle Aid Sensor

I have the reverse vehicle aid sensor on the back of my 05 F-250. It seems to work pretty welll. I'm still a little nervous about trusting it. Has anyone found any gaps in the coverage of the sensors, or have you guys found it to be reliable?

I would experimnet with it and a spotter. From my experience I know a solid tone means I am 1 ft away from an object.

Never put 100% trust in it, like any electronic or mechanical object it can fail on you without warning. You don't want that failure to be followed by an audible crunch...

That said I find mine to pretty accurate. Solid tone means I am within a foot of the object. My front lawn is REALLY long (jungle) right now, and the sensors beep to warn me about the grass behind me.

They sure do beep alot when the trailer is back there... Hummmm maybe we can put reverse sensors on the trailer and tie them into the factory system...

That's what they include the big P button for!

Alas, I am about to replace my rear bumper with a Ranch Hand replacement, and elected to skip the reverse vehicle aid. Once the topper gets installed, a rear camera will be installed...

They're also a good reminder that your tailgate is down!

I think they're abosultey critical for parallel parking and so far they've worked great as long as you go slow. If you go fast you can overshoot, especially when backing up to a small car.

Can this accessory be purchased and installed from dealer or after market?

I really like the reverse sensor. It's great for parking. You do have to go slow for the last foot. The solid beep leaves 8" on mine.

The biggest problem I've found is... driving someone else's vehicle which doesn't have a reverse sensor! I tend to start backing up without looking closely, but within inches of movement I realize I must look closer.

While I don't take mine for granted, I do rely on it. You still have to look, but they will catch someone walking behind you which you may have missed in the mirrors. They did seem to be overly sensitive in the winter - picking up ice and snow mounds on the ground when backing up.

I would like to put sensors on the back of my trailer that would integrate to the factory system. That would be a cool option especially with some always on rear side sensors as I have a lot of overhang which could get me into trouble during turns.
