Man, this thing is kicking my butt. I got a new solid window and seal from LMC. Any one know how to install this thing. I installed the seal on the cab, then tried to install the glass. It's just too tight. I have maybe one more try in me before I find a glass guy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.............jim
Here is the way the glass guys do it. Put the rubber on the glass first. Make sure it is seated well. Then take a piece of strong twine or small rope and wrap that around the seal. Make sure you leave some extra hanging out to get a hold on. Get a helper to hold the glass against the back of the cab then start pulling the rope through to the inside of the cab. When you pull the rope it will roll the seal to the inside of the cab, which holds the glass in. Take about 2 min to install.
/\ that's what I was going to say, but make sure you use the window calk to help seal everything up, or you may end up having a leak. it doesn't take much. let us know how it turns out.
Jims,
I had the same problem. I installed the gasket on the window and tried everything to get that thing in there. I did the string, the fish line, the whatever I could find. I finally had to give up and get a glass guy to install it. I still have a hard time believing I couldn't do it but there you have it.
jor
Make sure to get a spray bottle with some soapy water and spray the heck out of the gasket. It will slide in easier that way. Otherwise the rubber grabs the body metal and it's real hard to get in. You shouldn't need any window caulk unless there's damage to your seal and/or body metal.
We, me and the o'l lady, got it in last night. Took about an hour, didn't use enough lubrication as qman suggested. Anyway it's in. Thanks to everyone............jim
