My Overdrive button and dash light doesn't seem to work anymore. In the past I could be going 40, 50 or even 70.. Push the button and there used to be a light in the dash that stated Overdrive was off and the tach would jump a 1000 rpm's.
I only have 38K miles on the clock. It was recently in or service on something different. Does anyone know of a typical easy thing I could check (fuse?)??? Otherwise, I'll pay my ESP deductable and have it looked at...
I just went and checked the fuses, all good. I called the dealer and of course, they want to see it and charge me $$ just to diagnose it. I have the premium ESP plan, but will still cost me $50.00. It seems to be more of an electrical problem as opposed to mechanical... Any other ideas???
No, the OD isn't on at all and doesn't seem to 'click' off. So, its on currently. If I were to tow anything, I'd want OD off (thus, clicking the button on **** lever). Its a 2001...
I assume you checked the fuse under the dash. Have you checked the fuses in the power distribution box under the hood? I don't have a manual for the 2001, so I'm not sure if there are any fuses there that impact the OD switch.
Yeah, I've checked the fuses in the dash panel, but not under the hood.. It was in for a trans flush a few months ago... I'm wondering if 'something/someone' unplugged something on the trans??? Another way to SOAK more dough outta FMC....
Well, the dealer just called... They have to replace the shift lever. Which leads me to think its a broken wire inside towards the shift column. OF course, they don't have a part in stock (you'd think with this problem, they'd have some extras laying around). SO, that means my truck either stays overnight for the part tomorrow or I pick it up.. I'm thinking they can keep it...
Oh, that'll be next.... It seems the dealer 'pushed' this ESP on me.. I shoulda carfaxed it when I bought it. I had a buddy run the VIN through Ford's internal system and nothing was flagged. I swear, this thing was in a very bad accident. I didn't care at the time. I like it, but some others say it rides like a lumber wagon and its squirrly in the snow.....I onlt drive 2 miles to work, maybe I should look at leasing something....
