I just bought a 05 f-250 4x4 and I also saw the fx4. I asked the salesmen what the difference is he just said it was the off road package. So i just got the 4x4 bc i plan on lifting my truck so i would be changin the tires and shocks anyways. Should i of still got the fx4, what exactly did i miss out on.
All you missed out on was some skid plates (which you can buy separately and install) and some knock-off Rancho shocks. Since you're planning on lifting it anyway, all you missed were the plates - oh, and the Fx4 emblem.
My salesmam (thanks Jeff) talked me out of the FX4 option. I had already ordered my truck with the skid plates ($86 if I remember correctly). He told me pretty much what is listed above. AT tires and rancho shocks would have cost me another $300 or so.
