Question Security system/remote start problem

Have the dealer installed Ford Remote start/security system.
No manual with the remote start.

The other night, the small red light (LED size) that is on the left panel down by the steering column was blinking (no break in attempt)
and now it stays blinking, remote start does not work, and neither does the remote entry.
If you use the key fob to open the door, it honks.

What in the world has possessed this thing?

Worked fantastic before, remote start the thing at great distance etc.
Now you cant use the remote start or the remote lock out.

Any help?....would be greatly appreciated.!

Thanx!

Re: alarm

If you bought it from the Ford Dealer, I'm sure that it has a lifetime warranty on their alarm/remote system so go to the dealer. They should have records as to when you had them installed it under your truck serial number. Good luck

figured it out....
The light was blinking....trouble shooting said, check your hood security switch wire (did, no probs) check your brake wire (same, no prob) or the system is in test mode (wasnt)

So.....figured it somehow went "bonkers" and lost the "programming" from the system.
So I did the reset and re-learn for the key fobs etc, she's fine now.

Sweet.....

Is this the "Code II" Ford system that uses your existing key fobs? Or does it involve some rewiring and a change of fobs?

The system I have in my X is the factory ford, and with it came two new fobs, 4 button.
Panic (red button) and Blue button , remote start.

It required a bunch of wiring on install, but it was on the truck when I bought it, so it was painless.

The problem you had was not a problem, what happened was you put the alarm into Valet Mode which for saftey locks out the remote start portion, this is why you could operate the locks and not the remote start portion.

To activate the Valet mode with the engine on press lock, to Disable pre Unlock on the remote.

Hope this helps, tried to post this when you first said this problem but it seems to have not shown up. Weird anyone else having problems with the FTE site?? Or just me??

OKay, that explains things, but what this old coot needs is a manual on the damn thing, which I also dont have.
