Been lurk'n in the background for a while and finding all the info very helpful. Seems the New design F250 will be out soon, question is should I wait or get in on the last minute deals? Will there be a big difference in the price? Please share your thoughts.
I'd get in the last minute deals. But you might not get your exact choices. So it can get dicey. I would not buy into a new engine design until after 2 years.
If you are going diesel , wait and see what the new PSD is all about. Ford must have learned a little bit with all the problems they had putting the 6.0 on the market too soon.
Even if you are going gas they might do something more with the V10 and the 5.4. They could do variable valve timing on the V10 and get another jump in power. On the other hand the 05 SDs 4X4s with the improved front end are awesome. Good luck in your choice.
I'm with Wrenchtraveller on that one. If the 2007 diesel engine is a new design wait until the bugs are out. I wouldn't have wanted to be in the group who bought the early 2003 6.0's. That means waiting until 2008 or 2009, a long wait. On the other hand the 2005's are great and the 2006's should be even better with only minor changes.

It all depends. I like to buy new about every 15 years or so and drive it right into the ground. I have driven lots of different types of superduties in the last few years and think that Ford trucks have come a long way. However I still like to pilot my '93 F250 down the highway on my way to work. I just like the way it rides and how dependable it has been. I realize that it is an old unsophisticated dinosaur just like its owner. My point with vehicles is that life is short, drive what you want to. If you find something that you like, buy it and drive until you don't like it anymore. Ford will be making trucks for some time to come so no matter when you buy, they will have something new and exciting for the year after you have made your purchase.
I would wait for the 2007 for the supposed interior upgrades they are making. I personally am choosing to wait because I have a hard time spending $40K for a truck with an interior like an econobox car. The 2006 is essentially the same as the 2005 except for some different packages. It really comes down to what you are getting on the truck. I think the bottom line is can you wait for a few more years if they do have issues with the new trucks?
The cost of the vehicle and if you need one right now are deciding factors. I thought about waiting but I have three growing kids and needed more room, my standard cab 86 Chevy isn't cutting it any more.
I would think the 2007's will be $500-$1000 more and not have a $3000 rebate at the begining either.
I got a $40,000 truck for $32000, that is what helped me make up my mind.
Sure it is nice to have the newest body style, but how long can you keep that up with these $40,000 vehicles now days!!

In todays day and age cars / trucks / motorcycles etc are just like computers. If you are waiting to own the latest and greatest you'll be waiting forever. They improve every year.......................buy now, I did and I have no regrets.
Except for the lack memory seats and a navi what makes it an econobox interior? What are the planned interior upgrades?
Just look at the F150 and the changes they made there. From a very average interior with cheap materials to a world class interior. I'm waiting too. I'll take the risk that they don't have all the bugs worked out. Of course as many have pointed out, I don't depend on my truck to earn a living so it's a call that's easier for me to make from a personal standpoint.

What I meant was that if you look at the interior of other $40,000 cars, like BMW 5 series or Audi A6, the interior is incredible. I know it is a truck, but that doesn't mean it can't be nice inside for how much you are spending. I am not sure what the interior upgrades will include.
IMHO...it depends on how often you buy? If you go with the '05 or '06 then in a few years after the bugs are worked out of the NEW SD's ('07 and beyond)...you could always "upgrade" to the newer model. With all that said, I still would want to wait until spy pics are available or actual pics for that matter. Might help with making a better decision.

I "kinda" agree with Jossdoit. However, I already think the SD's look incredible for a TRUCK. Of course this is coming from a guy who has a '76 F150 4x4. I actually prefer that the trucks not look like a BMW interior...unless it is coming from Lincoln, Range Rover, or some other "LUXURY" manufactor. FORD is not "LUXURY"...for is supposed to stand for "Affordable" and/or "Practical". Again...my $.02 here.

I agree, especially when it comes to lines like Freestar/ Taurus/ Five-Hundred, etc... However, since there is no "Super-Duty BMW," why shouldn't Ford offer one as luxurious as possible? Personally, I don't think the King Ranch goes nearly far enough. It should have memory driver seat, extra interior lighting, heated REAR seats, DVD, etc... Why not offer the stuff that GM and Dodge don't?
