I'm looking for some opinions on rain and bug guards. Kinda on the fence as to how I want to solve the problem of bug carcasses on my windshiled, and rain guards can be useful too.
Rainguards are defenitely a worthwile addition, they help with ventilation on rainy days and allow you to leave the windows open just a crack without having to turn on the a/c.
As for the bug guard, I have one at home but it cracked and fell off because every time i closed the hood of my truck it would flutter(although it was installed by the original dealer it was still flimsy, held on by 6 very small screws). Eventually it became so loose that it broke off. I dont mind too much though, because I dont do a lot of long distance driving and bug crap on my hood and windshield aren't much of a factor in NYC. Hope this helps!
Window rainguards are a nice accessory to have. As Greenscobie86 said, they allow you to crack your windows in a rainstorm and maintain nice ventilation. I do a lot of driving and added a Lund Interceptor bugshield to my hood. I've noticed debris flows over my windshield now, and seeing some of the dings in the bugshield, I'm glad I installed one. Rather have the shield take the hits and not the paint on the hood. I got a clear shield and painted it the Ford silver to match the truck. You almost can't tell it's there.
