Problems w/ automatic hubs

I just installed a new wheel bearing on the drivers side of my ranger. I've got a 97 4wd with auto lockouts. Once I installed the wheel bearing, I noticed the power steering was sort of funny, like it wasn't working 100%. Then, after trying out the 4wd, it started pulling really hard to the left, and eventually went away although the steering isn't quite right. Also it'll make some noises while driving, especially around bends ocasionally, sounds like it may be trying to lock in and out while driving. Any ideas?

So it started acting funny after you tried the 4x4? Or it started pulling i mean? I would go back and double check your work. Its sounds like a very strange case. does the hub actually engage? can you test it by spinning the tires in gravel?

sounds like when you slid the auto locking hub back over the lug studs it didn't set properly against the rotor..take your tire back off and push on the hub while turning it to make sure it sits flat against the rotor. Might have to take it off and move it around to get it to sit flat..then carefully put the tire back on and bolt it down.
