I'm suprised Ken didn't assign himself a level that is higher than normal users would have available, such as "Administrator", "President", or at least "Town Sherriff"...

I have seen other boards with a similar structure, and on them they had "Moderators" whose levels were above what is normally available to the average member, and people who worked for the company (it was a message board for a software company) that had permanent levels even higher.

Plus you have to prove your keyboard has the letters worn off and you have square eyes from spending too much time in front of the screen.

I love coming to the ford forum, I learn something new everytime, but this is not one of the fastest sites around. I have to check on another forum daily just to keep up with the posting.
Its at www.corvetteforum.com
And one of the moderators there just hit the 20,000 post mark a couple of weeks ago. if you get bored here and don't mind looking at some chevy posts then the corvette forum is a really fun place to hang. But be warned it moves fast with over 26,000 members, and they don't take any bashing without someone getting banned.
Be sure to check out the C3 section, thats where i hangout...

Why that's good news! I'm sure we will all attend the corvette forum. Lots of corvette fans here. I think I'll just give up ford trucks all together. Wait a second. I forgot. I hate vettes and chevys. It was a thought though.

This site ain't growing none too slow. 21707 active now. What about 3 weeks or so ago this site was just breaking 20000. I'd
say thats accelerating at a fairly high rate of speed.

I knew about Corvetteforum.com when they were babies. Met them for a business meeting (nothing panned out) along with another site about 2 years ago. Yeah, they've got a busy board, but a board doesn't make it a busy site. Given the low reliability rate of GMs, I'm not surprised --- GM owners need lots of repair help!

We're pushing close to a million monthly visitors now (over 900,000 last month). This site has an enormous amount of content, specs, news, photos, etc, and most users gravitate there -- some probably stay away from the boards because of the way a very small fringe of users choose to express themselves. That's gonna change and its one of the reasons the guidelines where updated yesterday and will be updated further this weekend.

Anyone who posts 20,000+ messages in 2 years needs a life, unless they're doing it as a full time job! :-)

No need to explain Ken. This site speaks for itself. The 20,000 post guy must be bedridden with his computer being his only companion.

Ratsmoker I was in no way trying to put down this site or to tell anyone that they should like vettes, I was just pointing out that the posting rate here was not very impressive. I, being a motorhead do love my Ford Truck and my Corvette equally.
I would like to see the message board here grow, and become the same information giant that I see on the corvette forum. Sure you can say that chevy's are prone to breaking more than a Ford, but that is not the main point to a busy forum. If you were to go and look at the other forum you would see that there are plenty of post's about the persuit of more smiles and perfection that we all want to obtain in our vehicles.
I have a 20 year old corvette that is just as much fun to tinker with as my 8 year old truck. But I have to admit that the entertainment value of the Ford forum is not as much fun as the corvette forum.

That's just my opionion. But I could be wrong...

LAST EDITED ON 12-Oct-01 AT 03:17 PM (EST)[p]*reaches into his penny jar, and counts them out*

"One, two... There ya go."

I suppose the old Blue Oval -vs- Bowtie rivalry will never die, but my perspective on it all came about this way:

Over the years I have worked on these for my dear old Dad, my Mom, and various relatives-

1953 Desoto (original Hemi engine)
1957 Olds Delta 88, w/ the vaunted 400 "Rocket Motor"
1960 Desoto (Looked almost like the first finned Chryslers)
1973, and 1975 Caddy Eldorado (500 THIRSTY C.I.)
1966 Ford Falcon
1964 Chevy II
1963 Chevy II
1967 Chevy II
1966 Chevy Impala Wagon
(whatever dang year it was) SAAB 900
1972 Datsun 1200
1970 Buick Riviera
197? AMC Matador
1974 Dodge Dart
1936 Cord Beverly (still in my Poppa's garage)
1973 Gran Torino (351 Modified Cleveland + 4-speed)
1976 Mustang Cobra II (302, but they stuck a dang 4-lug rear in it)
1969 Ford Chateau Club Wagon (1 Ton)
1966 VW Transporter
196? Honda 350CC mini-car (I had 2 of 'em)
1988 Plymouth Horizon (Primer Black- We called it the "Stealth Plymouth")

These days I keep a 1990 Metro, a 1982 F-100, and a 1989 Taurus LX wagon. The Wife has a New Yorker, a Nissan truck (motor gave up, finally), and a Dakota...

And those are just the ones in the immediate family -
Out of all this stuff, I would say the American V-8 engines were the most rewarding ones I played with.

I can find little difference over all except in minor ways. Each have both strong and weak points.

But at least they didn't change completely every few years, which foreign motors DO.

Which is why I seriously have considered dropping a 60 over 455 into a Mercedes 250E just for kicks...

America has a V-8 HERITAGE, no matter which way you lean towards on manufacturers.

I think we always will

My favorite of all is still in San Diego, and was a cream Tan in color. For those of you who have never heard of one - this is what a Cord (as in "Cord/Auburn/Deusenburg") looked like...
