Hard to believe but my XLT FX4 PSD Crew Cab didn't come from the factory with the keyless entry system! Has anyone installed the OEM system in their truck...what did it take and how much did it cost? Thanks ahead of time...
read this thread for inffromation on remote start, it will shed some light on what you ar looking to do. if you are going to add remote entry, you might as well add remote start while you are at it.
Don't bother with the factory system. I have the "Advanced Security Group" in my truck. It is neither advanced nor a security system. All it is is a remote door locker/unlocker with interior lights. I can't believe that ford charges over $300 for this on the sticker. Oh well, live and learn. You can get the same thing at Circuit City for about $100. Or, if you want a basic alarm with siren, motion detector, and kill switch, you will spend $200 (installed). It really bugs me that I paid over $300 for this, then will have to remove it, and pay $200 more to get a basic security system.
Not hard to believe. My XLT didn't come with it either. I just want the keyless entry and I found one pretty cheap but it didn't have the wiring harness. Live and learn that it is next to impossible to get a wiring harness for it. So it is still in the box. BTW the part number for just the keyless entry is F7AZ-5422OK51-AA. According to the fit guide that is for 2001-2005.

When getting an alarm or basic security system, you will not have to remove the ford system. Just have your alarm installed like normal. Your new system and ford system will work like one or the other is not there, No worries, but I too was trick into thinking i was some, atleast basic security system. Oh well,
