Which would give me the better mileage. I have a 00 7.3. The truck also has a six inch lift with 18 inch wheels and 37in tires. I bought it that way and the first thing I did was install the PPIII. I have no idea if the stock tuning would yeild better mileage. I just came back from Chandler AZ. I live in San Diego. I averaged 15 mpg. That sucks, IMO. Do you think it would improve going back to the stock tuning? I plan to install a Banks exhaust, turbo to muffler and a Napa filter. Anyone have any similiar experiences? Thanks.
The HPPIII gives more power by advancing the ignition and modifying the fuel maps. Also this makes the engine more efficient. The 15mpg is about right for your lift and large tires. You loose 2-3mpg with those mods over stock. If you went back to stock you will get less mileage. Also it will feel slow as mollassas and that will be very depressing seeing everyone pass you!
Anytime you improve the pumping efficiency of your motor with exhaust and intake, you improve the performance. You're on the right track and don't forget the EGT gauge so you know when to back off the throttle.
