Mud Flap Opinions

Anyone who is running the factory Ford, Husky, or other aftermarket mud flaps what are your thoughts and suggestions?

I need to protect my paint, keep mud off the steps and have factory fender flares. I am looking for a set F/R.

Opinions, suggestions, experiences appreciated!

I have the Ford molded ones and really like the way they look. They keep the mud down as well as the stones that my tires tend to throw. Keeps the rocks off the front of the boat which is why I bought them. Very easy to install and fit is right on.

I have read others who did not like them, but for me they seem great.

You do need to check if you have the factory fender flares. I know that for 05 that the molded flaps won't fit with flares, it may be the same for some prior years.

I have the ford factory molded ones. I like them a lot. Very easy to install. Make sure you have a right angle drill handy or you will have to take off the rear tires to drill the hole.I found them on the net for about 80 with shipping.

Yes, I searched and read that one which is why I ask.

Do the Husky's do the same thing?

I don't have personal experience with that brand. However, I would assume that anything that "cups" the fender will hold water and debris.

Apprently the Husky's come with some tape that you could put on first to limit the rubbing. I would also use my idea and put in some of that foam tape to keep dirt from getting in between the paint and flap.

Ironic that I put them on to protect my paint and ended up having more severe problems.

I have the Huskies, for the money they do a good job. They do have the 3M film to go between the flap and the paint.

I've got the husky's on my 05, used the tape and black rtv to ensure a good seal, the sand and the rock salt up here from nov. to april does nasty things to any vehicle that's not protected. (too much expierience in that area!) Also had to add 4" of rubber to the bottom of the flaps to keep most of the junk out of the back bumper and off the nice chrome steps. I hate NY winters

I have the molded ones and like them considerably more then the rubber "hang" downs.
The fit was great, becasue they are black it is hard to see them in my gallery

I have the ford ones I like them they seem to work well but they do cause a luittle rubbing with 315"s I used a zip strap to pull it back a hair to keep rubbing to a minimum ,they are in my gallery

I have the Huskies, found them on the net for (4) $60. Fit well, look good. Allow 2-3hrs to install them. Remove rear tires & drill some holes.

I like the Huskeys and I have tu-tone paint which gives you the plasic wheel lip mouldings
and husky makes mud guards for this extra trim. I had Ford moulded mud guards on my 04 and I think the Huskys are worth the exta money.
