More A/C Problems
I found a compressor for my 86 F-150/I-6, but when I wen to put it in it didn't fit. Apparently the motor has been replaced by an I-6 from a different model year.
Does anyone know where the codes are on the block so that I can figure out what year this motor is?
Also, does anyone know if there were any changes to the locations where these brackets mount to the block? The bracket I have is nearly the same except it has nuts welded to the inside. The 86 compressor also has threads in the four lower mounts.

Let me ask where you got the compressor that you want to install ? If its a junkyard or used compressor , you may just be reinstalling a new problem . Ford used a few different compressors that mount or use different brackets but look similar . I think the key to your problem is buying the same compressor as you have now . See what model you have now ...IE: FS 6 , FX 15 etc .

My truck did not have a compressor when I bought it. I got the compressor from a junkyard. It is a FS-6 out of a 87 F-150. I went to Auozone and looked at what they say is the correct one, and it looks the same as the used compressor.
I think that I may have found a bracket from an '82 F-150. We'll have to wait and see if that fits any better.
