Confused

What is the point of having a HOLLOW oil drain plug????
Ive seen them in BMW's and Mercedes so far, but thats it. Does anyone know?

You push a special tool up into it and that allows the oil to drain out into a special cannister.
This apparently helps keep mechanics hands from getting dirty

It's also more "Environment friendly" because you don't have the oil dripping on the ground.

I drill mine to put a magnet in if I can't find one with a magnet already. Otherwise a possible weight savings???

Tim, Do you have a pic of that valve that has been installed for 4 or 5 years ?

It won't always look like that
