jack the front of the truck up and support it with jackstands on the frame, allowing the front suspension to hang down, then with a friend turning the wheel back and forth(just in the slack) inspect the whole system from the spindles all the way up to the steering wheel, look for slop in the tie rod ends and drag link, watch the steering box while the friend is turning the wheel back and forth and see if the steering shaft is moving before the pitman arm moves, then look at the rag joint ( circular pad in steering shaft) and see if it has any play or damage, even check the steering column for slack in the bearings, also inspect your radius arm bushings and replace if worn.....i just replaced all of these things on my 2wd F-150 and it now drives like a new old truck......if all of these things check out, replace the tie rod ends and get a professional alignment done.........oh, one other thing, what kind of shape are your front tires in??? old tires with worn sidewalls will make steering difficult.................
