Just made the investment and then I catch those ads flying abt comparing an SUV to a bucking bronco needing to be tamed?!
Anyone know the ads I'm talking about? I was curious enough to check the site and caught a funny little game to prove the point of driving skills for SUVs..... seen this www.esuvee.com/landing.html
What I got from the whole thing is just to be a bit careful driving the beasts...anyone else see this yet?
Seen it, think its ridiculous. Yes, the center of gravity on an SUV or lifted truck is higher, and they are less stable as a result. You needn't be scared of them (like some furry uncontrollable monster), just don't drive like a moron. I own an 05 Mustang, and know how fast I can take a corner in it, and its a lot faster than I can take the same turn with my Superduty and a loaded trailer. Its common sense, you simply need to know the limits of your vehicle (and your own as a driver). These "for your own safety" organizations are usually headed by a bunch of overzealous soccer moms with waaaay too much free time and disposable income. They have a burr in their saddle and think it's a "cause". Add the free time and money, and BAM! you have a series of overly dramatic in your face TV ads that the average shmoo takes as gospel. In this sue-happy world of ours, all it takes is one timid 4 foot tall woman sideswiping a Toyota Prius in her Expedition changing lanes while yelling at the 4yr old in the car seat (who just dumped juice on the leather seats), talking on the cellphone to her "life coach", changing the radio to listen to Dr Phil, and slurping a cup of nonfat mocha latte, and we now have to look at a warning decal on our sunvisors warning us of the obvious. "Drive like a ******* and pay the consequences" should be a malfunction indicator light on the dash! Grow up and take responsibilities for your own stupidity, people! (Just a rant, nothing personal to anyone here or to smartypants......
The more ridiculous part of this is that the funding for this esuvee came out of the settlement money from the Explorer roll-overs.
Seems to me if Ford had a problem with roll-overs the judge would mandate that the company spend $40M to research the problem and fix it... not give it to some third party to create animatronic robots and rodeo commercials that are so outlandish that you have to visit the website to figure out what the hell you watched.
