I did not put in any anti-freeze since I live in dallas, tx and it will be about 6 months before it hits 32 or below.
Before the coolant change, I notice that it took 15 minutes before the temp hit over 160 and it would hit over 220 if I was driving in 105 degree weather with the a/c in slow traffic.
Now it hits 160 in about 5 minutes but will not go over 190. Does anti-freeze cause the coolant not to work at its best at higher temps ?
I also put in water pump lube. I did notice that my engine is running allot easier in low idle.
Both times I did put in water wetter. I really do not know if the $7.00 bottle of pink stuff is help.
I know anti-freeze does but does it have a oppsite effect on the other side ?
Thanks in advance.
One more thing:
Has anybody used MAACO paint / body service ?
Anti freeze "thins" the water for better saturation on to the metal parts, also it inhibits rust by reducing the oxygen content in water, also anti-freeze has a better conduction rating than water..ie heat transfer rate less o2 to act as an insulator. I have used MACCO on an older MERC, of mine...lets just say you almost get what you pay for. The initial -short term appearence was good however the luster did not last more than a year. This was with the next to top of the line paint that they offered. all in all I would not recomend our Local shop here in Seattle however each shop is independant. FYI I would recomend anti freeze at all times, your softplugs will remind you when its too late.
