Missing or rusted out hot air riser

What have you folks done about the hot air riser when it is missing or rusted out? I am probably going to make one out of sheet metal. Has anyone done this?

are you talking about the choke hot air tube, or the flap valve on a 300 six exhaust manifold?

No, I am talking about the dohicky that sits on top of the exhaust manifold and has a slinky tube leading up to the air cleaner snorkle.

Just make one out of sheet metal. Otherwise it is off to the salvage yard.
