I have a '93 300-6 with a cracked head. I can get a '74ish complete truck with a good 300-6 in it. Should I put the head from the 74 on the 93, or should I put the entire engine from the 74 in my 93 truck with the EFI exhaust manifolds and then get rid of the cat. I am not concerend with emissions. I know that there is a slight difference in the head "flow" design for the EFI heads, but I am thinking they should still bolt on.
what would be the pro's and con's of each set-up? (ie: power, fuel milage, etc)
If I go with changing the motor over, I know that I have to depressurize the fuel system. But is there anything else I should consider?
BIG NOTE: I am trying to do this with as little cash as possible

Thanks for any help.
You can bypass the frame rail pump to lower the fuel pressure but I would still recommend using a regulator. With the lower initial pressure, you should be able to get by with a cheaper regulator..
I'd pick the bottom end with the least amount of wear personally.
You can do all the swapping you want to and it might work out-------I had two heads, one aluminum, one cast-- both warped and cracked in the seat all the way through. I took them both to N.A.P.A./ Standard Parts(of which I am only a walk in customer).
They had them both repaired and re-built. My bottom ends were good and the heads perform flawless......just my thoughts
