have not had my stroker very long, but i have notice a little oil leak seems to be around where the tranny meets the back of the engine. coming from the bottom of the cover by the bell housing. it has a small slit in the cover, was wondering if this is a common thing? not a bad leak, jsut a few drops when she has been hot. i'm driving a 2000 f-350 with a 7.3 powerstroke. thanks in advance.................dawg
sounds like a oil galley plug leaking theres plugs at the back of the head that have been known for leaking. its about a 1" dia plug. is the valley dry?? could also be turbo pedistal leaking.
Mine does the same thing. I was wondering about the slit in the cover was designed to let the oil drip out. Anyways what I did was stick a piece of paper towel in that slit and change it every week. It keeps my driveway clean of dripping black spots.
there all the way on the back of the head. see where the head has a hump that runs all the way down the head??? its at the back of that. IH updated the oring on it to a one oring design over a 2 oring. or i t could be your turbo pedistal leaking also
Be sure to check the valley of your motor for pools of oil. A leak there will show up on that cover as there is a hole in the rear of the block to let it drain out. I had a fuel leak by my fuel filter that also showed up in that exact place and was a very slow drip. The most likely possibilities of where a leak can come from on top of the motor are turbo pedestal o-rings, Exhaust back pressure vlave actuator plunger or the high pressure oil pump. My leak turned out to be fuel but I would have swore it was oil. It didn't smell like diesel once it mixed with the grime on the motor and it got a whole lot thicker. Anyways, give the valley a quick look and if there's no pooling you can quickly rule it out.
