Self Changing Sparkplugs
I have been a fan of this site for sometime now. Today I became a member. My 2001 F-250 , 5.4L V-8 spit a spark plug. The dealer states that it is a $3,000 dollar repair. I called Ford Customer Service and hit the wall. Since my vehicle is out of warranty there is nothing that can be done. They won't let me access the factory rep to present the case that these cylinder heads are improperly designed. They tell me that my only recourse is to write to Bill Ford, which I have done. In the meantime I am in the process of gathering as much information about this condition as possible. Any and all responses would be appreciated.

For 2003 1/2 and 2004, the 2-valve 5.4L V8 and 6.8L V10, the Automatic Spark Plug Ejection System (ASPES) is no longer available. It was a nice feature that let the driver know when it became necessary to change the spark plug(s) (and the heads too...).
