I called Ron at st. croix transmission. he seemed like the mechanic i'm looking for. thanks for the advice guys. now my only roblem is getting my truck over there. i know this will sound sad but true.... a car dolly, rental is $50 which I'm not gonna dish out. i guess it's too far (22 miles) to tow it with a strap on 4 wheels even if i take both driveshafts out. anyone know where i could rent a car dolly for a reasonable price so i can still afford to have my truck fixed. thanks,

What year truck do you have? If it's older, you can shift the t-case into neutral and flat tow it no problem. If it has an electric t-case, I think you have to remove the driveshafts(just on the axle end) though I don't believe 22 miles isn't too far to flat tow a vehicle, even without disconnecting the driveshafts.
I don't think you'll find a car dolly rental cheaper than that, especially around here.

find a friend with AAA or Amoco motor club.
also that is a tough 22 miles if you drive 95 north,, good luck towing that truck with a strap down that long busy hill between 8 & the border. Better way to go would cross in osceola & take 35/87 north to 8
also dolly rental shouldnt cost $50 more like $35 or $40.
