DUI dizzy; max current, minimum resistance

Does anyone have specs for a DUI dizzy to what the minimum resistance coil (primary) it can handle and the maximum current also? Thanks.

DUI dizzy
What is that?

I would not recommend messing with any factory ignition system. They have it all figured out for longevity of the module and the coil.

If you want a hotter spark, go with a MSD unit or some other CD system that is designed to handle the extra load.

Buzz, thanks for the ignition post. I want to scratch build a DUI system, as of now I have Cranes XR3000 and LX-91 coil in the FE. I would rather experiment
with parts than throw money around. I have access to a Sun distributor to get a starting point but tune to the motors needs.

Franklin, had 2 MSD's in the past, both failed, second one is in the center of the highway smashed up 42 miles from any human life in Nevada. Stupid me for purchasing that product twice. NOOO THANK YOU for "Miserable-Shabby &
Disfunctional". Thanks anyway.

It looks like they are using the GM HEI setup. Am I wrong? You may find some info from someone who plays with the GM HEI. I do know the HEI has electronics inside the module that eliminates the need for a resistor to the coil +. So if you use one of these make sure you run a new wire to power the dist.

Resistor wire was replaced with 14 gauge THHN years ago when I was running Allison's optical ignition system which was purchased by Crane. It's Crane's XR700 series now, XR3000 series will handle higher currents which i'm running now. Don't get me wrong the XR3000 is one great ignition system, I just want to see if I can build up a DUI and compare secondary voltage and current outputs.

Buzz, you can't complain about the price but should it fail your dealing with Oz. I would rather go to any parts store for replacements. Like I posted above i'm looking for numbers like coil resistance and maximum current numbers the DUI will handle. Everyone keeps posting different ideas and avoiding the question like a politician. No offense, it sounded good to type.
Thanks.
