engine block heaters/plug in

I hope someone can help me.I just moved to an apartment complex and I can't run an extension cord to my engine block heater because the distance is too far,and the complex does not want extension cords running all over their parking lot.Can I use a portable rechargeable power source(which will be placed on the front seat) hooked up to a 150 watt dc to ac power inverter which will be plugged into the engine block heater via a short extension cord? The only thing the manual states is "Do not use your heater with ungrounded electrical systems" Thank you for your time.

I like your idea, but, I don't think that the invertor is going to be rated high enough to power a block heater. You stated the rating of the invertor at 150w, I think most block heaters are in the range of 1000-1200w. Should say either the wattage or amp draw at 110-120vac. 150w is only good for around 2-3 amp max.(surge current-less for constant use) and I think your heater will draw alot more amps(10-12)-not sure what will happen if you try this, it may just not get very warm or it might take out the convertor on overload. Sorry, can't think of a cheap and easy way around your problem! If I do, I'll post for them for you.
