Question Tranny cooler

I'm wanting to buy a tranny cooler for a 99'. I have been checking around and got lost with all the possibilities. What is the general consensus about which is best (dollar for dollar and ease of install)?

Any time saving tricks on install would be appreciated too.

#2 Here in Nevada, my truck is registered as a "commercial" vehicle because it exceeds 10k in weight. On the highway speed signs, it says "Auto's with trailers do not exceed 55". Am I still considered an "auto" in my F350 dually? Or, can I burn rubber with the big rigs? I'm just trying to stay away from Barney Fife.

Low Pressure Drop

I'm in beautiful Sin City. Vegas

What is "Low Pressure Drop" and what do I need to look for? Is there a particular model # that works best, or is it buy whatever and make it fit?

bigger is better, when it comes to trany coolers, I got the one rated for 28000 lbs but you could go bigger but the tru cool max looks like the ticket with the 40000lb rating, and its' not that much more$ . plus it just gets hot down where you are..

I'm in reno righ now been here for a few months but heading back to WY in a week.

Im not sure about low pressuer drop,

i put in a tru cool cooler, it was rated for 22K lbs, and i put it inline with the factory cooler. the size of the cooler i put in was (i think) 11.5"x12"x3/4"
took me about 1/2-3/4 hour to put it in.

Hey my BigRedFord, How did you find the two tranny coolers up there in the winter? I have a second cooler inline as well, but I was wondering about the temps being to low, when I was up in the caribou this winter and it was -20.

I also just installed a Tru cool inline with the stock cooler.

I went to this site and figured it out from there:

Cowboy
A good friend of mine moved back to Rock Springs to help her brother run his bike shop. Jessida Medler ring a bell?

Has anyone messed with the under the bed coolers. I saw one, can't remember where now, that mounted up under the bed of the truck. Not sure what the airflow under the truck would be at speed?

MOPEY- i put the cooler in about 1 1/2 -2 months ago, so it wasnt cold here anymore, i cant answer your question, allthough this weekend coming up it is supposed to me -7C in the morning. i wonder how it will work too in the cold, this year i went two hours north from me and it was -39C, my truck felt and rode like a rock, that was the first time i actually didnt like driving my truck. i wish i would have had the cooler then to see what would happen. i out one of those grill inserts for the winter and it seems to help warming the engine faster.

MyBigRedFord, When I was up in december i think it was -20 or -25. My tranny actually was warmer than normal once we got rolling down the highway. I think that is the bypass doing it's job???? Anyway once we got back down to the coast, the tranny actually dropped in temp and it was 20 degrees warmer outside. I think a front cover would be great for winters up north though. Mopey.
