Hi, I have a 2001 F-150 with auto door locks. Lately when I try to open it with the key fob, one side will open (usually the passenger side), but not the drivers side. I then have to use the key to open it manually...any suggestions? It doesn't do much good for safety at night By the way, I have changed the battery in the key fob.
Thanks.
Do your power locks work on both doors when you hit the button on the door? Could possibly be a bad locking mechinism and nothing to do with the key pad.
Couleeman, It is supposed to work on both doors. Interesting part is, its intermittent. I am now having trouble with the "inside" mechanism as well.
Very frustrating...only works when it wants, or when I "say a few choice words" to it.
BillyBob69, it works intermittently on the drivers side (inside) and the FOB as I said, intermittently will open both sides, usually the passengers opens, but not my (the drivers) side! It usually will open from the passenger side-inside
using a constant 12v source, unplug the harness from the drivers side actuator, then apply the 12v and ground one way then the otherto the actuator. do this repeatededly. If you get problems, then replace the actuator. If no problems after quite a few turns, the plug it back in a watch what wire goes to where. Then using the 12V, find another location from the harnsss and test it there. If you find probs, (move the wiring while testing), then you know where the break is at.
