I finished my stacks today. heres the link. sorry, no smoke pics, there not functional yet.... no one bends pipe on saturdays or sundays . look back later in the week for those.
Yea, some times you gotta lose to win. get stacks, no trailer, no horses, no fun. .
I buddy of mine got some on his the day after he bought it and I got jealous, and I was sick of my rear tires always being COVERED in soot and dirt, so they only seemed logical. I figure the '96 will be the tow rig, since it already has the G-neck ball in it. so party on.
I got to get up in 6.5 hours for work I haven't been to work in 10 days, I dont wanna go . off to
Looks great dieselrod... I would like to do that to mine.... plan on hauling a fiver w/it though.
Just for my education, how do you seal the holes in the bed around the pipe, but still allow the bed to flex without twisting the exhaust connections? Fiberglass insulation or stove gasket rope?
dieselrod, Nice Stacks! Looks great! Are you a member of the CPSC? What's yer handle if you are? What Dyno Day is that in your pictures? The one they had on the 16th? Good to see another local!
1. there is a 4 inch hole in the bed, with a 3.5" pipe coming through it, no seal, I plan an building a cover out of diamond plate to cover the bases of the stacks, so far I haven't had any problem with the side pipes braking welds, and they are welded to the bottom of the bed, so I dont think I will have a problem with flex to much.
2. Yes, you can still tow, its all in how you think about it, with the stacks your sending all the soot, and exhaust right up in front of a trailer, which will inturn make it black, and possibly fill with exhaust gasses, asfixiating Jakes horses, . That is prolly the biggest concern. With the side pipes I had the same problem, sides of the trailer were turning black all the way to CO, and I think with stock exhaust you will still get the black, but just on one side. I will still pull whatever, but it wont be my main tow rig.
3. No, I am not a memeber of CPSC, yes, those are pics from there dyno day on the 16th. I dont live there, I was just there for a lil vaction, and to see some relatives. I had read about it on TDS and decided to go while I was there.

oh man......you are gonna giggle like a lil' girl NONSTOP when you crank it up the first time. that and your diesel bill is gonna suffer too looks good. does fit the truck quite well. all shiny and new too. all i could afford was a pair someone had already blacked the inside....pulled them off a peterbuilt i think it was. got some dents, but i don't care, hey, 30$$ for the pair? can't beat it. i don't know if you have a problem with this where your at, but if you ever go in a parking garage, make sure you know your height....i'm touchin 6'6''...just barely enough room. LOOKS GOOD!!!
those pipes look awesome..! just wondering.. i tow a 5ver... what it i did some pipes, but did the bend on the tops that pointed out to the sides... that would look great.. but would it help to keep the soot off the 5ver...?
Possibly, I think it will also depend how close the stacks are to the 5'ver, the farther away the more the soot will disipate into the air before it has a chance to catch on the trailer, I honesty dont see how those would be any different then dual exhaust, side exit, just that the soot would be up higher, and goin over the trailer instead of under it.
Try it, some one is gunna have to do it so they can give us the low down on it.
Redstroker, I think they came off a Ford Tractor, I got them at the equipment dealer out here, went looking for a pair and he had these sitting right behind the door, just waiting for me. they even have a lil ford oval on them . but they were a $100, but still thats alot of chrome for $100.
