Interesting because I've run my truck with the SCMT in HP mode at the 1/4 mile strip a couple times and only seen temps in the 1100s.

Highest temp I ever saw in HP tune was only around 1263 or something like that. And that was at the end of a run up a big hill at pretty good speed. It might have gone higher if I'd stayed in it but I ran out of hill and was moving way too fast. . . .

The X-Monitor I have records max values so I don't have to keep an eye glued at the gauge - just check it every now and then. I also have the CES option with an audible alarm so that I get alerted if my preset limit is exceeded.

They are both good tuners, here is the info that pointed me in the direction I went.

Predator: gobs of power from the bottom to the top. Slight learning curve on the tranny only with the highest settings but its really not a big deal nor tramatic, maybe a day's driving or two. Updateable over the web with an update kit (they aslo supply the radio shack part numbers). Its shift tends to be a little firmer than the SCMT.

SCMT: good power, no learning curve on the tranny but it doesn't do quite as good on the bottom end of the RPM. If a dealer reflashes your computer, you may have to send the unit back, unlike the Predator. Good all around tunes though.

People will argue between the three till the cows come home, both are good, I liked the idea of being able to update the tuner at home.

My understanding of the Edge is that it only affects fuel mixture, it doesn't do any of the tranny line pressure, shift point adjusting, etc. Which may or may not be a positive. I've also heard that the newer trucks aren't doing so well with the 'change on the fly' products, of course I'm sure you will find people who say it works fine. I liked being able to set the truck back to stock with a tuner, leaving no trace that it was there, in case a dealer trys to get picky with warranty issues.

My neighbor has one on on his '02 expy and likes it, although its not one of new ones, I think you still have to change settings with jumpers.

I don't have any real working knowledge of the Edge.

I'm not sure I understand your question, Hp wise or module wise?

I assumed you meant something built by Quadzilla from the 7.3L forum. Didn't know he was making/modifying something, curious to what is was.

Its for the 6.0 and its a module/box not a programmer, adjustable on the fly its also very easy to install(plug and play).

If I'm climbing a steep hill like the one near my house with my foot in it fairly hard I can see unloaded temps in the 1100 deg range with my SCMT set to High Performance mode. Max I've ever seen unloaded in any condition in the HP tune was about 1230 deg.

Towing my toy hauler a week ago with the Tow Safe tune installed I hit 1180 deg or there abouts. This was a sustained full throttle pull up a steep grade.

I've heard various numbers for temps that are OK but my personal preference is not to exceed 1250 deg preturbo. And so far that doesn't seem to be a problem as the truck doesn't seem to run that hot the way I operate it.
What make of toy hauler is is and hoe much does it weight. The weight is especially important.

Quad's newest box plugs onto the actual sensor connectors (ICP, VGT, ect) instead of plugging into the PCM connector like the old ones.

I have heard they are much easier to install and deliver more power, more smoothly, but to me its still just a fuel box
