Another Straight Exhaust Question

Looking to change out the exhaust on a 01 to a straight system without muffler and I have a couple of questions.

I see 3 1/2 and 4 inch downpipes listed. What is the differnece other than the diam. of the pipe. If the 4 inch fits why would you think of installing a 3 1/2 inch pipe?

Stainless or Aluminum? How long will the aluminum last?

Any suggested brands based on ease of installation and fit?

Thanks

Richard

Depends on what you plan on doing with the truck, if you plan on doing a ton of towing, stick with the stock downpipe, if you want the truck to fly, go with a bigger downpipe but this will kill your low end torque compared to the stock.

larger exaust wont kill your low end tourque the turbo provides all the back pressure needed. ive been running a 4" dp and 5" out the side on my 97

the 4" dp is just a tighter fit with an automatic trans and sometimes ou may have to adjust the pipe cause it will touch the trans.

Here, read this, basicaly the same question, just alot more info about the low end Torque and the sound of a S.P.

I suggest Diamond eye, there available from motorhaven, its a two piece DP, which I think is easier to install, and it was like $140.
