51 F-1 Correct Carb question

51 F-1 Correct Carb question

Hello, My F-1 has a 7RT carb. I also have a dash mount throttle control not attached to anything since there is no where on the carb to attach it. Am I simply missing some sort of connector or should I have an 8RT carb since I have a throttle control in the cab?

I have a 48 to 56 parts manual that indicates both carbs were used on 51 F-1s, but if you have the throttle control you should have an 8RT.

Far as I know the 7RT had no provisions for a hand throttle.

Yes, this truck has the 8 cylinder engine. So I should have an 8RT....I kinda figured that...

My '52 didn't have the original carb when I got it, and it didn't have the provisions on the carb for the throttle. (The provision is a longer throttle shaft that sticks out the driver's side, is squared off, and has a lever, spring, and cap on it). Unless you're going for a 100-point resto, don't worry about it. It would be nice to have in the winters, warming up is easier with a little throttle but without choking it. If you really want it, you can get the carb parts from vendors, but the piece that clamps the cables at the carb end is made of Unobtainium...
