Hello to all the loyal X owners! This is my first time posting at this site. I am impressed by all the great info and feedback on this site.
I have an '01 Limited with the in-dash 6 CD changer. I want to add a Sirus tuner but do not want to use an FM modulated setup because of the poor sound quality. Do any of you know of an auxillary input adaptor that will work with the factory head unit? I have seen an adaptor that will work with the older headunits that use a remote CD changer (changers often mounted in the center console) but those will not work with the head unit in my truck. Any ideas?

Does your truck have the factory DVD system if so do what I am doing with my X which is use the factory aux input. If not I am not aware of any adaptor, I know the explorer head unit is factory compliant with Sirius but I have XM in both my trucks, and both are using the DVD Aux input.
I've also looked for an adapter for the same reason with no luck. I think having the 6 disk changer in the dash is the problem. No provisions to hook up somthing externaly. I am using the fm modulator in mine for the time being but I would like to upgrade the headunit to an aftermarket that supports GPS. That comes to the next problem of not being able to find a adapter to use the factory dvd system with an aftermarket radio. The aux imputs that 2l8iwon refers to seems to be a good way to go, not for me though because I use a sirius reciever mounted in the truck and I need an FM modular or a head unit to control it. My two cents anyway.
I do not have the DVD system in my truck. I think I will wind up replacing the head unit with a Kenwood unit out of my last truck. This head unit is not set up for Sirius but there is an adaptor that will covert the CD changer input on the Kenwood head unit to a pair of RCA's to be used as an aux. input. I will still have to use the Sirius tuner to change stations but at least the sound quality will improve. Thanks for the responses.

I do have a factory DVD player and will try it. My FM modulator has a lot of static, and if I get in an area with strong competing station, it get all garbled.
DO YOU JUST PLUG IT IN ON THE FRONT? I DON'T WANT TO SEE ANY WIRES.
I pluged mine in the DVD Video inputs on the front, and let the cable dangle down below the passenger seat armrest. Then to my Sirius. Yes it is visible but doesn't interfere with anything. It's too much trouble for me to fish it thru the headliner, the molding, then under the carpeting, but you can do that. If you are knowledgeable, you can find a way to hook it directly to your radio.
BTW if anyone is watching DVDs in the back seat using headphones, you can't play your Sirius using the jacks. It will only play the DVD movie sound. But the CD player and radio will still work.
