I have a 2000 F150 SuperCab the door ajar light comes on every once a while even though the doors are closed. If you unplug the battery to kill the dome light and plug it back, the light stayed off. Today I unplugged the battery, opened the passenger door then closed it the light came on and stayed on again. Does anyone have any ideas?
This problem is usually due to a switch sticking on the door. I sprayed my door latch with a lubricant and problem never came back. I think there is a plunger in there that sticks and causes the door adjar light to stay on and the dome light to stay on.
I had the same problem and as TJ says WD-40 will cure it. Spray WD liberally on both (for good measure) latches, and keep opening and closing them til it is cured.
My F-150 was doing that a couple of years ago. I sprayed the heck out of the door switch with WD-40, no fix.
They one I accidentially bumped the inside door panel and the light went out.
I took apart the door panel and noticed that the speaker was a little loose. I tightened up the bolts and the light hasnt come on since. I dont know if maybe the speaker was shorting out on the metal inside the door or whatever, but I know that it did fix the problem.
Octane
do you mean the door latch that catches on the "nader bolt" or the slide that is on the door that moves in and out of the a post near the kick area. I have a 99 F-150 with the same problem
