85 f150 and codes

I'm at my wits end here. I have a 85 F-150 302 Fuel Injection that will not start in the evening time or when hot (Shreveport, Louisiana=hot).
I initially thought it was an ignition problem and changed the ignition coil, alternator, voltage regulator and ignition control module. It turns over like a champ, just don't start
It continues to give me troubles. I've sinced checked to make sure it is firing and it is.
I was about to buy a new computer for it when they suggested I check the fuel system. I disconnected the main fuel line going into the rail and it was dumping fuel into my bucket. So I know I atleast have fuel to the rail.
Any suggestion on where to go from here? What is the best way to check that the injectors are not bad?
I also experimented with the codes using a voltmeter and this is what I got (not sure how it is read (/=pause between meter deflection) 1/2/3/8/7/2/3/8/7 few second pause and then 1/1/1/1/1
Appreciate any help you may provide..

Aaron

Aaron , If you can post the codes again because I tried to make sense of them & you lost me ? Either you missed a number or something is wrong ? The easiest way is to use a jumper wire on the self test input & signal return pins of the EEC connector & count the flashes on the check engine light. IE : flash , pause , flash flash = Code 12 .

The way I see that is a code "23" and "87". Code "23" is throttle position sensor signal out-of-range, and "87" is fuel pump circuit failure. The computer always repeats the codes twice I believe. After that, "1" tells you it is done with the "key-on-engine-off" test and is going to the "continous" codes or codes stored in memory over the last 40 or so running cycles. Then "11" means the EEC-IV system passed its test and is ok.
I would try to test the TPS first since it is easy to get to or just replace it. They are only about $10 I think. Then I would move to the fuel pump if that don't work. It makes sense to me that if the TPS was bad, then the computer wouldn't know where the throttle is and wouldn't know how much fuel to let the injectors allow through. I hope this helps you.

Ok , Sounds like youre on the right track , I got confused with the previous post because I wasnt including the seperator code . Also , make sure the throttle body , plates are clean , excess carbon will hold the throttle open a liltte & the computer may see this as a fault when doing the self tests .
