351M engine swap

I have a 1983 F-150 4x4 with the 351 Windsor. I am thinking about buying a 351M with the tranny and a 9" rear end. What would I have to do for that motor to fit. I have seen them in F-250s that year. Any help would be apprieated.

The 351M has a bigger block so like you said get the tranny with it. Your existing rear axle should be strong enough so unless you are getting it cheap I wouldn't bother. Somme good things to get if you are removing this from another rig is the exhaust pipes and every bit of the intake system as these are hard to come by later. One other thing make sure you have a rear sump oil pan or you will pay big bucks later for one. The last big item is how do you plan on getting the tranfer case on the tranny? If you use the tail piece from the orginal tranny it can be done but it is a lot of work!! Plan on one day just for this evolution. Also plan on spending $100 on just stuff that you will want to fix/paint/need above your orginal estimate. I don't know why that is, it just seems to be that way. Good luck!
