Upper control arm question

Hey all,

Need to replace both upper control arms on 2000 Explorer (Eddie Bauer). I have 139,000kms on it. Ford dealership quoted me $766.00 plus taxes, plus the cost of an alignment. Any idea how much cheaper I can get this done by local mechanic, and do I trust someone other than a dealer to do this? Also, how important is it to change these asap? Is it a safety issue or can it wait?

If the upper ball joints are very loose it is a safety issue and should be repaired asap.I am a ford tech and did many of these.Would not say it is a very hard job just takes some time.
